Discourse is a free, open-source software solution that works on the Ruby on Rails framework. It’s a robust, feature-rich app that gives us so much of what has been asked for over the years, and more! There are a number of reasons why we chose this, but we won’t go into them here. An important terminology difference you’ll see is a category versus a forum. They are the same basic thing! We use them interchangeably.
