Announce a Project
First, you'll want to announce a new project! You can do this two ways. You can click on the button to Start New Project on your Dashboard, or you can go to "My NaNoWriMo" → "Projects", then select, "Announce New Project".
Make sure to name your project. The default project status is "Prepping", and you can edit this manually as your project status changes. You can also set the privacy level of your project and define the project type. When you are done, click "On to your Goal". Instructions for goal creation are here.
*For Camp and NaNoWriMo (April, July and November), make sure your goal is associated with a NaNo event to qualify for a win. This will save you a lot of frustration later!
Now that you know how to announce a project, you may want to reach out to other writers in the NaNo Community. Here are a few ways:
- Join a region to find local events. Find your region here, then join it to get updates from your local Municipal Liaison (a volunteer who manages the region)! Once you join, say hello to your ML.
- Browse and RSVP to upcoming virtual events hosted by NaNo HQ! Get to know the community with events that include writer yoga, author webcasts, and community meetups (including ones just for LGBTQIA+ writers and Writers of Color).
- Join a Writing Group. This is a great way to be part of a small, focused group of fellow writers. You can find instructions for joining a Writing Group here.
