For November NaNoWriMo
If you’ve reached your 50,000 word goal and do not see the winner trophy and a link to the winner page on your dashboard, there’s a good chance that you’re not registered for this year’s official November challenge.
Even if your challenge has a goal of 50,000 words and a date range of November 1st through 30th, it will not register as a win if it was created as an independent challenge. Winning under the official NaNoWriMo 2024 Challenge pictured here is the only avenue that will show you the winner page.
We know this is a bit confusing. NaNoWriMo is a year-round organization, with 10,000+ Wrimos creating independent challenges throughout the year, which is why the possibility of not entering the official challenge exists. We do not disable this for November since some people choose to participate with a word goal under 50,000.
We place a large banner at the top of all dashboards about a month before each major group challenge in the hopes that folks see the official challenge, and we point to the official challenge in each newsletter during Preptober and early in November. If you participated under the wrong challenge, our advice is to go back now and recreate your project under the official challenge. You will not be able to do this after November 30th.
For April and Jul Camp NaNoWriMo
For Camp NaNoWriMo, it is also necessary to create an official Camp NaNoWriMo challenge. Though the word count goal is flexible, in order to reach the Camp NaNoWriMo winner page, you have to enter the official challenge. As we've referenced above, we place a large banner at the top of all dashboards about a month before all group challenges.
