Registered users who are over 18 have the ability to create events on the NaNoWriMo website at the local/regional level.
All you have to do is:
- Enter a region you belong to
- Click the "Events" tab at the top of the main section of that screen
- Click the green "Submit an Event" button within that box
- Fill out our (newly revamped) form that asks you for information about your event. Please be prepared to provide specific information about accessibility.
Your event will be reviewed by a regional volunteer or by a member of NaNoWriMo staff. If there are questions or issues with your event, we will reach out to you individually. Otherwise, your event will be approved.
If you want to create an event that is available nationally, globally, or in a large number of regions, please reach out directly to NaNoWriMo programs staff at programs@nanowrimo.org.
Final note: this is not a new feature. Members-at-large have been able to submit their own local/regional events for a long time. Though MLs have the ability to approve events, they do not have the exclusive right to create them. Please know that we wholeheartedly believe that any community member should be able to offer or promote regional events. We are aware that not all regions currently have MLs. This will not impact events. NaNoWriMo staff will approve events in regions where MLs are not present.
