One piece of it hinges on the pace at which we can retrain and certify volunteers. Not a single volunteer will simply “roll over” into 2024 and seamlessly continue in their position. Every municipal liaison, forum moderator, social media moderator…literally, anyone who volunteers will have to go through the new process. For example, no regional forum will be officially reopened until the MLs for that region have signed the new ML agreement, been through the new training, and gone through our new vetting process. Consequently, one regional forum might open back up weeks before a regional forum with MLs that are slower to the uptake. This is a necessary consequence of safety standards enforcement.
Back-end tech changes will also take time. It's an old website, so some of what needs to be changed has to be changed manually. One reason why we had so many loose ends with respect to our closures in November is because of how manual some of these changes are. With manual changes, there is always room for error, which necessitates additional quality processes and checks and balances. All of this translates to time.
